From 6 April 2026 

• Maintain digital records 

• Submit quarterly to HMRC for each business 

• Complete a year-end final declaration 

Only those exceeding gross income levels need to register for MTD for the tax year 2026/27.  These thresholds will reduce in 2027 and further in 2028, bringing more taxpayers into MTD. This new process supersedes the current annual Self-Assessment system.
